Packing
Welcoming our third child into the world and then deciding to travel with her at 12 weeks old to New York City wasn’t such a daunting thought when we knew we were well prepared with the YOYO+.
We always knew we had plans to travel and already having two boys aged 8 and 11 meant we wanted something which fitted in with our family lifestyle. We chose the YOYO+ in all black and we couldn’t have been happier with the overall look and feel of the product. The fact that it folds with just 2 steps is fantastic and even better is the option to carry it over your shoulder when on public transport or on your back if you purchase the additional Back Pack which we had done so already. We also purchased the YOYO+ New-born Sherpa Pack in Black as our little girl is still at the stage where she either requires her car seat which we attach to the YOYO+ or, as with this journey where we don’t require a car seat, we used the New-born Sherpa Pack instead.
This meant that packing for our trip was so much easier. We knew that our plan was to use the YOYO+ until we reached the aircraft and then we would fold it into the backpack and carry on our back while we boarded the aircraft and fit it into the hold.
Airport
On arriving at check in we were asked the usual questions regarding how many bags we were travelling with and if we had to check in a push chair. It was at this point that the check in staff noticed our YOYO+ and commented on how amazing these were for travelling on board an aircraft as you could fit them in the overhead locker. This filled us with such confidence as the reassurance from airline staff that this would fit on the aircraft made us feel even more relaxed about the journey.
We approached security with our daughter in the YOYO+ and when it was us next in line my husband quickly lifted my daughter out with one hand and while holding her securely he folded the YOYO+ down and put it into the security tray like a semi professional athlete who had trained for this his whole life. The ease of folding down the YOYO+ in such situations really is masterful. You worry when you see these qualities advertised that they’re just a gimmick or that the quality of the mechanisms would be compromised for cost but it’s safe to say the YOYO+ really is top quality.
Aircraft
Leaving security in our shadow and making our way to the aircraft we had a short train journey to our gate and once again this felt stress free while we used the YOYO+. Reaching the aircraft for boarding we folded up the YOYO+ and placed it into the Back Pack which we had folded into the storage tray on the bottom of the YOYO+ for the journey through the airport. We then used the clever strap on the back of the back pack to attach it neatly on top of our 4 wheeled hand luggage case and wheel that onto the aircraft meaning it fit nicely up the narrow aisle of the aircraft.
Next was the main test, would it fit into the overhead locker….. It did and with less of an issue than one of our fellow passengers who was trying to squeeze in all her worldly possessions!
Reaching NYC and disembarking couldn’t have been easier, as with boarding we followed the same process and it couldn’t have been easier.
The Big City
Making our way via bus to New York City from the airport was once again an easy task with the YOYO+. Rather than put it into the hold of the bus along with all the cases, we decided to quickly fold it down at the bus door and my husband placed it at our feet on the bus. It really is so compact that it was able to be at my husband’s feet on the bus and not disturb or reduce his leg room too much.
Getting around NYC, using the subway, ferry, taxi and nonstop walking was no issue for us. We were extremely lucky weather wise with temperatures reaching as high as 29C meaning that the hood on the New Born pack which has 3 positions helped keep the sun out our daughters face and the fact she could lay flat meant that while we explored NYC we didn’t disturb her sleeping pattern too much. As with most cities the streets can be a difficult place to navigate, not only the vast amount of people but also the uneven surfaces, holes and street vents. This again only highlighted how well the YOYO+ handles. It didn’t ever feel like it was going to topple over, even on hitting the most uneven of surface at speed.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner were also a joy wherever we went using the YOYO+. There is a nifty feature where you can fold the main handle half way over as to reduce the height meaning that in the smallest and trendiest of New York cafes you could bring the YOYO+ in towards your table taking up the same apace as if there was an adult sitting there meaning you didn’t get any awkward looks from passers-by thinking you were in the way. Even the rain cover came in handy for the 1 occasion it rained.

Final Thoughts
We have no regrets on purchasing the YOYO+. If you have a small car, travel on public transport or just want something you can carry around and store away in small places when not in use then you won’t go far wrong spending your money on the BabyZen YOYO+. It feels and looks like a top quality product. We have been stopped on the street numerous times asking our opinion on this and we really couldn’t fault it.

I can see the BABYZEN YOYO+ 6+ being the must-have stroller for family travel or nipping around town or the park at the weekends! I am parent testing this stroller at 9 months pregnant with my 2 year old daughter. The pushchair arrived in two BABYZEN branded boxes. The larger box consisted of the chassis and the smaller box contained the hood and seat cover. As the larger box had the chassis and basket already set up, I only needed to fix together the seat base and covers which took about 10 mins altogether. It also comes with a rain cover and travel cover!
It took me a while to get the hang of collapsing the stroller which is very straight forward and does tell you exactly how its done in the manual but once I got the hang of it, it really does collapse and open out within a matter of seconds!
I was quite eager to test out the stroller once set up, so I picked it up by the shoulder strap, flung it on my back and headed out to the car. It folds up so small that I didn’t even need to put it in my boot but I placed it in the passenger foot well! If you have a small car I can see this as a massive bonus!
When I got to the park I did feel quite smug opening it out in about 2 seconds with one hand on the pavement so my daughter could climb in… it’s the little things!
The stroller was such a comfy ride for Martha, the seat seems wider than most and when Martha needed a nap it reclined fully flat by releasing the strap at the back which was great! (The canopy comes with a UPF 50+ sun protection too!)
Pushing the stroller around the park I loved how unbelievably easy it was to push and swivel around one-handed (great for sipping a coffee or taking a phone call). It was also easy to push up curbs too which for me is a big plus at the moment being pregnant and having a heavy toddler…another plus is that it’s very narrow so weaving in and out of tight spaces is also not a problem.
Let’s be honest, the BABYZEN YOYO+ 6+ looks pretty cool! I loved the sleek stylish black frame and the zip pocket at the back of the stroller which was big enough to hold my phone and snacks for Martha, perfect! The storage basket seems smaller than you think but it held our changing bag and two child coats quite easily.
I can see the convenience of this pushchair for family travel as it folds up to fit in overhead cabin storage which is just a brilliant idea for parents wanting to make that hassle free transfer when boarding an aeroplane with a little one, but also being small enough to free up the car boot space for bigger luggage or shopping trips.
So I can carry a high quality, lightweight stroller on my shoulder, collapse and fold it out with one hand AND take it abroad with ease…what is not to love about the BABYZEN YOYO+ 6+!!
