Booster seats and high-backed child car seats are suitable for children who are aged from around three or four years to around 12 or 13 years of age.

A child car seat or booster seat can be used from when your child is around three years old, they are typically used between the ages of eight to 12 years. Booster seat use does vary because children grow at different rates and will have different weights. Generally, children weighing more than 22kg or who are taller than 125cm can use a backless booster seat.

However, we recommend that you keep your child in a rear-facing car seat for as long as possible as this is the safest way to travel. The law in the UK states that children must use a child car seat until they are 12 years old or 135 centimetres tall, whichever comes first.
