Owlet Smart Sock and Camera V3 Monitor Duo review
Owlet are the brand behind some of the most innovative sleep monitors on the market. They recently introduced their new and improved Smart Sock V3 and camera V3 as a handy and convenient bundle for maximum peace of mind for parents. It’s the first smart baby monitor to combine the ability to track your baby’s heart rate, oxygen level and sleep trends with HD video for the most complete picture of your baby. We think it’s great, but what did our parent testers think of the Owlet Monitor Bundle V3?
Parent Tester – Leah Miles
I rate the owlet camera a 10/10. It is perfect for nervous, first time mums like my self. Or for parents who want to track how much sleep their baby is getting each day.
You know as soon as you open the owlet packaging that you are getting a high quality product. The packaging is so neatly designed. Both the camera and owlet sock are packaged so beautifully. Everything has its own place and is displayed so neatly.
The camera and sock are just as I expected, sleek modern design that would wonderful in any nursery. The wall mount kit surprised me, they provide you with an ample amount of trunking to hide your wires safely. It was pleasantly easy to assemble which I did alone with ease.
The owlet app successfully guided me through the set up of both devices. It was simple and quick to navigate through. The lay out of the app is easy to read and even easier to use. My favourite features of the owlet camera is room temperature sensor, and the ability to zoom 4 X into my 130 angle view image. The image quality is so clear in both day time and night time vision mode.
The owlet sock gives me peace of mind that my baby is sleeping safely and peacefully. The heart rate and oxygen tracker is a genius feature, with a reliable notification when it goes out of the safe zone.
My baby is completely not phased by the sock and can comfortably go under his baby grow. You're not just paying for just one sock, but two. That grows with your child’s foot as they get older. Meaning you're buying a product with longevity. Thank you Owlet as I no longer have anxiety of my son sleeping in his own room. We are all looking forward to a well earned sleep.
Thanks to the Owlet sock, Jackson has been sleeping independently in his own room for two whole weeks! I couldn’t imagine at four months old that could even be possible. If it wasn’t for the Owlet sock and camera, I wouldn’t have had the confidence and peace of mind to move him. I can happily say he sleeps a whole 12/13 hours through the night which I love tracking on the app. It’s worth every penny!

A little while ago we were lucky enough to be picked as Parent Testers by the wonderful folk over at Natural Baby Shower and were gifted the Owlet baby sock and camera to test and keep. We’ve absolutely loved testing out this product and I think we can all agree that one thing parents need and don’t get enough of is sleep - The Owlet has definitely helped us get a few extra winks in at night.
First things first this was super easy to set up and really simple to use. Instead of coming with various booklets and instructions you simply download the Owlet app on to your phone and it syncs everything for you as you go. I’m so impressed with the quality of this product, even down to the finish of the plugs! You definitely get what you pay for and for what it does, it’s worth its weight in gold.
The Owlet sock comes in two sizes and with a sock for each foot so it’s perfect for using as your baby grows. It’s made from a super soft material that Velcro’s around your baby’s foot allowing the attached sensor to monitor the oxygen and heart rate levels of your little one, alerting you via the base station and the app if either go out of the normal range. It will also alert you if the sock becomes loose or out of place and can’t get a reading from your baby - this has been the only instance that the alarm has gone off in the night when M has been a bit too wriggly and knocked the sensor. When I say alarm I don’t mean an aggressive beeping, the alarm is a lullaby tune that’s gentle yet loud enough to wake you which is just a nicely thought out addition to this product.
The camera quality is brilliant and the display is extremely clear, with both colour and night vision mode. It attaches to the base via a strong magnet (and I mean strong!) which enables you to adjust and position it however you’d like, you can also attach the base to the wall and still be able to remove the camera itself if needs be - If this is your preferred way of setting up the camera it comes with really easy to use trunking that sticks to the wall so the wires aren’t visible and hazardous. It’s a very sleek looking gadget and almost blends in to the decor.
When using the app to view the stats and access the camera it has all the data right in front of you and is really simple to understand. It shows the temperature of the room, baby’s oxygen and heart rate percentage and the image displayed via the camera. You can also browse your baby’s sleep history which will show things such as deep sleep, light sleep and waking moments on a graph. It’s really interesting to see such an in depth view of how M is sleeping. The only thing I’ve found with the app is that when watching the camera horizontally, if you come out of the app and then back on, it only shows a blank screen - I find I have to close the app completely and load it up again (which only takes a matter of seconds so isn’t that much of a big deal) it’s more of a bug bear than a major issue. It would also be great to be able to play back the footage from the camera to see how M sleeps in the night (and how she sometimes manages to turn herself right round and get into all sorts of positions!) - again not an issue but maybe something to consider with the next update.
Overall the Owlet smart sock and camera has been absolutely amazing and definitely made our sometimes-anxious nights that little bit easier. Even on the nights that M has slept through, I know she’s safe and I’m not worrying that she’s being quiet for some other reason. I can check on her without disturbing her and have total peace of mind as well as peaceful sleep. This has definitely become a couldn’t-be-without item for us and I’d highly recommend to any new mums, especially those who are more anxiety prone.
