    Travel Essentials FAQs

Going on a summer holiday with your newborn can be enjoyable but requires careful planning. Expect to make stops for feeding, cuddling, changing, and soothing your little one along the way. You'll need a range of essential items to ensure a comfortable trip for both of you. Take a look at our helpful list featuring compact pushchairs, travel cots, baby carriers, luggage and travel bags, and more. And don't forget the all-important passport - babies need it too! Make your baby's first holiday a memorable and stress-free adventure with the right gear.

To ensure your little one is kept calm, content and comfortable when on an airplane it's important to make sure they have some essentials, including blankets, milk, books and toys. It's always best to check with your airline prior to flying to see if there is anything they would recommend you bring with you to make travelling with your baby simple and stress-free. You should note that flying with a baby for the first time means bringing more items than you have before. To stay organised, make a list of the key items, bags you'll check and those you'll carry on board. Double-check your bags, including once you're at the airport, through screening and off the plane. Trust us, forgetting your baby's favorite stuffed toy can really put a damper on your trip!

When it comes to travelling you'll need to make sure that the baby carrier you use is light, ergonomic and adaptable. There are a whole variety of baby carrier types to choose from, including soft structured, newborn, backpack and baby wrap carriers. Soft structured carriers are arguably the best for travel due to their versatility. You can choose from various positions including front facing in, front facing out, hip and back carry.

When your baby is a newborn, their skin is extremely fragile and vulnerable to the sun's harmful rays. This is because their bodies have not yet produced enough melanin to protect them. Even a short period of time in direct sunlight can lead to dehydration and increase their chances of developing melanoma in the future. It's important to follow the recommendations of the FDA and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and keep your baby out of direct sunlight until they are at least 6 months old. When you do take your little one out, be sure to use sunscreen and provide adequate sun protection. Remember, babies and children have delicate skin that is prone to sunburn, so be extra careful when travelling with them.

Travel cots are a must-have for parents on the go. Not only do they provide a familiar and safe sleeping space for your baby when away from home, but they also double as a playpen for added versatility. These travel cots are compact and easy to transport, making them perfect for room-sharing with your baby while traveling. Plus, some models are built extra sturdy so your little one can safely play with their toys while you relax or tend to other tasks. Invest in a travel cot and be prepared for any adventure with your baby.
