Pregnancy is the most exciting time for women, but let’s face it, the strain pregnancy puts on your body is not so exciting. Whilst it's all worth it for the arrival of your little bundle of joy, there are some things you can do to make the journey easier and more comfortable. We want to help make the whole experience, from bump to post-partum and beyond, as easy as possible.
Pregnancy Support
Whilst you nurture your baby, we can help nurture your bump and body. Many women suffer back and joint pains during pregnancy making it difficult to do everyday activities. As a result, expecting Mums often choose to wear support garments that provide benefits and help ease the physical strain of pregnancy.
Belly Bandit Upsie Support Belt
A perfect solution for pregnancy strains is the Belly Bandit Upsie support belt. Created by women for women, Belly Bandit are experts in the area of maternity support. As your belly grows, you may find it uncomfortable and difficult to move with this extra weight you’re carrying around. The Upsie belt gives you the support to provide immediate relief and comfort for your growing belly making it easier to increase your movement and daily activity throughout your pregnancy.
As your baby bump is so precious the Upsie belt has been created from ultra-soft viscose from bamboo materials used to mould to your body with just the right amount of tension. There is also the handy addition of a hot/cold pack that fits neatly in the back pocket for additional comfort and relief.
BabyMoov Dream Belt
The innovative Dream Belt by Babymoov was co-created with Mums-to-be and experienced midwives to enhance the enjoyment of your pregnancy journey. This Dream Belt is the answer to every sleep deprived Mum-to-be dreams! Trouble sleeping is a common problem for pregnant women, it can seem impossible to find a position that’s comfortable for you whilst also being safe and supportive for baby. A pregnancy belt like the Dream belt can provide real comfort for Mums-to-be and offer protection for your baby, allowing for a comfortable night’s sleep. The Dream Belt allows sleeping on your side a possibility with its unique design which uses soft memory foam sides to fill the gap between the hip and the mattress, relieving pressure and weight of the bump.
Different to a regular maternity pillow, this ergonomic belt follows every movement of your body during the night without the need for re-positioning meaning you and your precious bump can sleep peacefully.
BBHugme
Designed and developed by three female Norwegian chiropractors, the BBHugme is the pregnancy pillow that supports and grows with you and your baby. This pillow is perfect during pregnancy for better rest and sleep by providing relief and support to the most important areas; pelvis, low back, belly, knees and ankles.
This pillow can be used from bump and beyond, as it is perfect to use for a nursing pillow or soft positioner pod for baby.
Recovery
Every new Mum embraces her body in her own unique way after having a baby. For some new Mums, wearing postpartum shapewear and support wear helps her feel her very best. Products such as wraps and specially designed underwear can provide extra compression with belly and back support while you heal from a vaginal delivery or c-section. Whilst there are quite a few products on the market that claim to help aid the recovery process and speed up healing, we have our personal faves!
Belly Bandit Bamboo
The Bamboo Belly Bandit is one of the most famous and best-selling belly wraps due to it’s PowerCompress core which helps to slim and support your belly, waist and hips post-pregnancy. The compression core is designed to work with your bodies natural hormone “relaxin”. Relaxin1 is a hormone that helps the pelvic joints to loosen and expand for birth and stays in the body for a while after birth. The compression power in Belly Bandit helps to apply a pressure directly to the belly, waist, and hips while these are still malleable due to relaxin. With this in mind, it is recommended that the Belly Bandit is worn immediately post-partum for a minimum of 6-8 week for maximum results.
The Belly Bandit Bamboo combines the firmness and strength of other Belly Bandit wraps but with the luxurious softness of Bamboo. This feature makes it super comfortable and soothing against the skin. Bamboo is one of the fasted developing plants, and the fabric made from bamboo is one of the softest materials of the earth.
Belly Bandit C Section Recovery Undies
A c-section is a big ordeal for your body, add in a new baby that needs to be cared for, the healing process can be quite long and painful. The Belly Bandit C-Section Recovery undies can be used to help aid recovery and alleviate worries of infection. Use whenever you feel ready, be it 2 days or 2 weeks post-surgery, these support and recovery undies will come to your rescue by protecting the incision area and help speed up recovery. They have targeted compression to help reduce swelling and support weakened stomach muscles for easier mobility. The addition of silver infused fibers help to eliminate the worries of bacterial infections, wetness and odour, letting Mum focus on her lovely new arrival instead of the risk of infection.
Also, each pair of C-Section Undies comes with a sample of ScarAway® Scar Repair Gel which is clinically proven to soften and flatten raised scars whilst relieving itching.
Body after Baby
Whilst you may feel pressured to ‘snap’ back into shape after pregnancy, it is important to celebrate your body and embrace the amazing achievement it’s just accomplished. Losing weight is rarely a top priority for Mums given the fact they’re busy caring for a new tiny human. But if the time comes and you feel ready and motivated to focus on loosing some of that pregnancy weight there are many different ways to achieve your goal.
The best way to get back into shape and to stay that way is to combine healthy eating with regular exercise. Walking is a great introduction to fitness and to get your body moving, you can even bring your little one along in their baby carrier or pushchair. It’s a classic, but pelvic floor exercises are essential in regaining strength. These exercises will strengthen the muscles supporting the womb, bladder and bowel helping to prevent possible ‘accidents’. Avoid diets, experts advise against going on a diet straight after giving birth as your body need nutrients to repair itself. Instead focus on healthy foods and the right amount of nutrition. Remember to start slow, the focus needs to be on healing your body and nurturing your baby first.
The Hub at Natural Baby Shower store in Bagshot is the perfect way to incorporate fitness, with baby bonding and the chance to meet other new parents. There's a wide range of classes on offer, including a Postnatal Fitness class with Kayleigh Calderbank. To see the full timetable and to book a space click here.
Or if you’re happy enjoying baby bliss, just sit back and relax. Enjoy every moment with your little one, they’re only tiny once.
