Elodie Details are the best at creating functional but unique babe essentials with bold and beautiful designs that stand out in the crowd. Their Stockholm Stroller is no different. It mixes functionality and comfort with gorgeous design and prints that you will fall in love with. The stroller has an easy one handed fold, handy travel bag, adjustable back rest and a large "papparzi" sun canopy. Plus it comes in 4 gorgeous prints to help make a statement and offers something a little different than the other strollers on the market. But to see if it really holds up to the parent test, we put it to one of our trusted parent testers to put it through it's paces. Here is what Nicole McAuley thought of the Elodie Details Stockholm Stroller.
Parent Tester - Nicole McAuley
I was elated to find out I had been selected to review the Elodie Details Stockholm Stroller. The stroller arrived promptly (actually before I arrived home from my summer holiday, which was a nice surprise). On first impression, it was well packaged, it came in not only a box and bubble wrap, but in an Elodie Details travel bag, what a pleasant surprise! I personally feel a travel bag for your beloved stroller is a must if you want to protect it, especially one with a gloss frame that would break your heart if scraped.
Aesthetics
I will shamelessly admit that the colour/pattern is what attracted me to this stroller in the first place. With a love for scandinavian design and a sucker for anything monochrome, I didn't hesitate to choose the 'Dots of Fauna' pattern when Natural Baby Shower contacted me. Although there are 4 many beautiful colour ways available in this stroller, I stuck with choosing gender neutral colours. As a rule, I have done for those bigger baby purchases and recommend that other parents do too if you don't intend for this to be your last baby, as its better value for money this way. I also like a lighter colour in a pram as heat from the sun is deflected off it, keeping baby cooler.
The stroller is finished to a very high quality. The leather handles come as standard, which instantly make the stroller look high end and is something that you generally pay extra for with other prams/strollers. This also makes the handle wipeable too (a must for us germ phobia, protective parents). The statement piece of this pram I feel, is the gold coloured frame which is what makes it stand out from others and the feature that I find most people comment on.
Practicalities
The stroller is the perfect size. Height wise, it is as tall as my pram which my Husband is delighted with particularly, as we tested some others in a store and he felt like he was 'pushing a dolls pram.' The seat is roomy and comfortably fits my tall 2.5 year old who had grown out of (in height) our pram, in which her head was hitting off the hood, restricting her sight and comfort.
The seat is also the perfect height form the group allowing my 'Little Miss Independent' to climb in and out herself. It came at the perfect time for us as she was starting to outgrow her pram, both physically and mentally. She calls the Elodie Details her 'Big Girl stroller.'
The material is wipeable (tried and tested regularly) and quite water resistant which I've learnt being caught out minus a rain cover.
This stroller folds in one piece which is a very welcomed change from my pram and less time consuming, especially when faced with having to wrestle a toddler into a car seat simultaneously. It is quite compact and light when folded, with a steady handle on the frame making it easy to carry. It also fits well into my car (a Mini Countryman) which doesn't have the biggest boot.
We have pushed this pram over all terrain; sand, grass, cobble streets and up and down steps. It is very versatile and easily maneuvered. It is surprisingly a smooth push with a heavy toddler in it. My Grandmother who is a serial pram pusher for 50 years now even commented on the quality. Elaborating, she felt it was smooth over different terrains, the wheels turned easily and it doesn't tip easily with bags on the handles like others (something that hadn't even crossed my mind).
The seat lies down very flat compared to other strollers, Pippa would often sleep soundly in this stroller. The leg rest has many different settings which can be used in different scenarios. When Pippa is awake, we have it in the seat position so fully down with backrest up, which can be easily converted to a 180 degree angle allowing a bed type space with the back down, when napping. It also pulls up to a 90 degree angle which would be great to secure younger babies. I use this feature to keep my bag and props secure when the stroller is empty and I'm running after the toddler.
5 point harness - with a toddler who could give Houdini a run for his money, this is a must for me and a feature I, personally wouldn't buy a stroller without. I like that the buckles are 5 separate pieces, giving you the option of a shoulder or lap restraint, dependent on need.
Added extras
The 'paparazzi canopy' is full extendable, right down nearly to the child's toes, which is great for ensuring shade and protecting that precious nap time. There is also a magnetic fastening flap across top of hood for easy check on baby when the hood is down. When opened, this is covered with net rather than plastic like other strollers, which was very well thought of as sound is not restricted so you can chat to your little one and reassure them on the move. The hood can also be very easily removed if not required.
A favourite feature of mine has to be the built in purse at back of hood - Ideal for keys, purse, phone and a dummy. This pouch fastens magnetically which is very smooth and ensures minimal disturbance if baby is sleeping. The basket underneath is deep and all covered from the elements/anything falling out which is a must for parents as we all leave the house with way more than needed and unable to carry it all!
There are matching accessories available to buy, such as a rain cover, a footmuff, a mini backpack in the matching pattern of your choice, cup holder and even...a matching thermos flask (goodbye wages!)
The customer service and experience from Natural Baby Shower has been next to none! Not just with this product but with past experience also (I have been a customer since pregnancy). When dealt with, the team at Natural Baby Shower have been consistently very approachable and accommodating. Not to mention, I can't think them enough for this fab opportunity!
