This year marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair!
Yes, that’s right, for over 50 years parents have welcomed the Tripp Trapp into their homes, and while the times may have changed, the Tripp Trapp is still, very much, a recognisable piece of furniture with its unique, scandi-design.
To celebrate this milestone, the team at Stokke have introduced a limited-edition Tripp Trapp to the family, say hello the 50th Anniversary highchair!
The design story
The man behind the infamous Tripp Trapp design was Peter Opsvik who, in 1972, wanted a seat round the table for his little one that could grow with him and help celebrate the milestones of childhood. At the time, his son Tor was at an age where he had outgrown his highchair but without the right height seat, it became difficult to sit and eat as a family.
In this spirit, the Tripp Trapp was born, boasting a timeless, quality design with an ergonomic seat unit that could accommodate children all the way up to adulthood. The adjustable design included the freedom to modify height and foot plates in order to transform its footprint to the correct seating position. Revolutionising the children’s seating category, this design has since been loved by many, 13 million in fact, and remains a core product in the Stokke collection.
Award winning
This legendary Norwegian chair soon became one of Scandinavia’s most recognisable designs, having been sold in over 80 countries and the recipient of multiple awards including: German Design Award, GOLD in 2020 for the “best highchair” accredited by National Parenting Product Awards and, selected as one of Fortune Magazine’s top 100 greatest designs of modern times.
Tripp Trapp Limited Edition
Stokke is proud to offer an exceptional, limited edition anniversary collection that pays homage to the iconic design. Lending to the exclusivity of the chair, each limited-edition Tripp Trapp chair will have its own number, like a piece of art, as well as a laser engraved anniversary logo.
With sustainability in mind, the collection is made with premium ash wood, with no part of the wooden log going to waste. The densely veined wood of the ash tree reveals multi-dimensional rings in both pale and deep tones, with its swirling marble effect creating a unique pattern on every chair, so that every piece is one-of-a-kind.
