Parent Tester – Olivia Darkwa
I was very lucky to be chosen a parent tester for the new Bugaboo Donkey3. We chose the all black colourway, purely because I love how sleek and classy it looks. It came at a perfect time after having our second baby, Colbie during lockdown. Our eldest boy Jenson is approaching his 2nd Birthday and initially it was an age where I thought he may not be as reliant on a pushchair but it seems I was very wrong! I began feeling really apprehensive about taking the two of them out on my own and the Bugaboo Donkey3 has really changed that for me.
The pushchair arrived from Natural Baby Shower in three securely packed boxes. The first, carrying the base and frame of the pushchair itself. The second, carrying the bassinet cover, the main seat cover and the spare fabric for when we need to switch from bassinet to 6month+ seat. The final box included the smaller accessories such as the canopies, the rain covers and the carry handle etc.
I set this up alone and it took me about 45 minutes altogether. I found the instructions really easy to follow and the pushchair simple to assemble. Everything just connected together so easily! I was so excited to test it out so the very next day, we put it to use with a simple stroll around a local retail park and nature walk. I did feel really nervous to set up the system alone with two children but it took me a couple of minutes and I had absolutely no issues in doing so. Unbelievably, the whole system fits in the boot of my car which is AMAZING and really rare to find when you are looking for the perfect pushchair for your child(ren)! Jenson really loved his new wheels and was more excited because he could peak over at his little brother who spent most of his time blissfully sleeping in his bassinet.
I popped to a few of our local shops and was so stunned to find that I could fit into the lift with no trouble and to fit through a standard sized door just felt amazing and so stress free. It really helped to ease any nerves I had just knowing that I could still fit in the same spaces that I once fitted in with a single pushchair. I still honestly cannot believe that this is a double buggy. It really just proves that you do not have to have something heavy, bulky and impractical – just because you have two young children. It pushes so smoothly and really can handle any terrain.
We had a really lovely time out and Jenson was so pleased to finally be able to show off his new little brother who has been well hidden during the midst of lockdown. He couldn’t stop telling people that his ‘brother’ was in the ‘buggy’. It’s so rare to find a side-by-side pushchair that works well for everyone but I can safely that the Bugaboo Donkey3 works for me as a parent, Jenson and Colbie as children and for the rest of the public, who do not have to run a mile off of the footpath just because a double pushchair is coming in their direction!
I have also taken a chance to use this in single mode for Colbie as our walk was close enough to home to have Jenson walk freely. I love that it has a side luggage bag that clips on when there is no need for the second chair. I simply chucked the essentials into it and we were on our way. We didn’t even need to take our changing bag because the side bag is big enough to carry those emergency essentials that we may need for a short local walk.
Overall, I am really impressed with the Bugaboo Donkey! It’s made things so stress free for us. We have a smooth pushing, classy looking, double pushchair that has stacks of storage for a whole day out, whilst fitting in a car as well. Something that ticks all the boxes for parents which is very rare to find. Well done Bugaboo!
