What is organic?

Organic refers to the way agricultural products—food and fiber—are grown and processed. Conventional cotton production is responsible for 25% of the world’s insectidal and 15% of it’s pesticidal use. Approximately 150 grams are used in the production of just one T-shirt. These toxins contaminate soils and ground water and also find their way into our food and everyday products, via the cotton seed which is processed and used in cooking oils, cosmetics, pharmaseuticals, food for livestock and  processed food. Organic cotton conversely is ethically manufactured and grown using only natural fertilizers and pest controls which means the resulting product is not only chemical free but also of a much higher quality; It is noticably softer and also more durable because the fibres have not been weakened in its growing, processing and dyeing procedures.
