These natural fibre mattresses are hand-crafted by a small independent eco-company in Manchester, where they have been crafting since 1990. They use a core of natural coconut fibre (coir), which is coated with pure latex, then wrapped in 2 thick layers of organic British wool and all covered with a thick, unbleached organic cotton fabric.
The finished mattress is safe, natural and free from any foams, plastics or fire retardants. The coir-latex gives the mattress a springy, supportive core and the wool gives a cosy comfort layer that has excellent moisture absorption and breathability to help temperature regulation and make sure your baby sleeps safely and soundly without overheating.
The wool, coir and latex are naturally dust-mite resistant and a removable cotton cover can be added that can be washed at 60 degrees. Alternatively you may like to add one of our organic cotton waterproof mattress protectors, which will fully protect against any leaks (see product below).
The wool is also naturally fire retardant which means that there are no added fire retardant chemicals. These mattresses conform to strict British Standards BS 7177 and BS 5852 Part 1 & 2 for fire safety.
